Did I actually figure out how to sign back into my blogger??? For months now I've been unable to sign into my acct...so therefore no blogging:(

Not that there's been time for blogging!

The past 2 months have been NON-STOP! Photo sessions, editing, uploading, filling orders...NON-STOP! I'm just now getting to the point of a normal pace, heart rate, breathing...you name it! November is not looking too bad either! I think most of my clients were anxious to get in and get family sessions & senior sessions done BEFORE all the yucky weather:)

The new studio is awesome. I love being able to just hop, skip, & jump over there for sessions on the rainy days, or for newborns. One thing that having an actual studio/office hasrevealed to me though is how much time I spend on the computer. I used to have my office here at home so I think I wasn't aware of how many hours I spend editing, uploading, backing up, & ordering until I'm still at the studio at 10:30 p.m. & David is calling asking when I'll be home...before I realize it 10-14 hrs have passed since I arrived there!!

I do love having such a quiet, beautiful place to work though...where nothing ever "walks off" of my desk:)

Hope this blogger thing will continue to work. I'd love to be able to update every now & then!

Blessings!

It's been 8 years since my earthly dad passed away & words cannot express how much I miss him. I miss being able to go to him when I need wise council. Or just his way of simplifying things when stuff seemed blurry and complicated. At the same time, losing my dad has pushed me to rely more heavily on Jesus. To seek out wisdom & truth in His word. I am so thankful that I can continue to lean on my Jesus in this coming year. Couldn't imagine going thru this life w/out Him!

Took some of these on New Years Eve and just got time to edit a few of them. Still practicing w/my macro lens till my fingers are numb. FYI it's just about impossible to take a flash card out of a camera and plug it into your PC when you can't feel your fingers:)
I pray you that despite the chaos that is surronding you at this moment...that you are filled with PEACE.

It seems like we are living in a time filled with uncertainty. It is comforting to know that our God is a sovereign God. We cannot see the future...but He can. We are without understanding, but He understands. While we lack in wisdom, He is filled with it. He is good & He is full of love for His people. So much that while we were yet entrenched in our sins, He sent His only Son to earth, to live and then die for us. To save us from our sins.

We had a message in church on Thanksgiving that’s been on my heart a lot lately.

My sister Nancy, for those of you who don’t know her, is mentally handicapped. She’s been that way since she was 2 years old when she contracted encephalitis. The thing about Nancy is that she LOVES her stuff. She crams it all into her purse and tries to carry it all with her wherever she goes. At times her purse is unbelievably heavy! About every other weekend my mom has to distract her long enough to quickly sort thru her latest collection of treasures to purge out the garbage & stuff that isn’t needed in order to lighten the purse so it doesn’t hurt my sister to carry it. If Nancy sees what she’s doing she gets VERY upset w/my mom. She doesn’t want anyone messing w/her stuff!

And it hit me…I’m like that.

I don’t like when God messes w/MY stuff. I don’t like when he purges things out my life….things that I think are MINE or even relationships that I think I’m ENTITLED to. Sometimes I find myself holding on to things so tightly!! My knuckles are white with strain as I try my hardest to keep track of MY stuff!!! I stress, I worry, I am ever watchful….and it’s exhausting!

On Thanksgiving I was reminded of this again. The message really hit me...that I am not entitled to ANYTHING..period. Everything I have is my Father’s. I didn’t earn it, and I most definitely didn’t do anything to deserve it…and yet more times than not I find myself clutching it all fiercely to my chest, holding onto it for all I’m worth.

That sermon has challenged me to be thankful for the people & things that God has entrusted to me, but then in turn, for me to trust that He knows what’s best for me when he gently takes things away that have become too heavy for me to carry. I know He probably gets pretty frustrated with me & my "MINE" attitude! I am so thankful for His grace and patience:) I love Him.rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-243405330362942122012-11-14T20:59:00.001-06:002012-11-14T20:59:49.332-06:00Parenting AdjustmentsWarning, this next post has nothing to do w/photography & is somewhat sentimental so if this makes you uncomfortable you may stop reading now :)

I remember when they were all little & I was home all day w/them, and while it was exhausting physically it was also FUN.

Each and everyday was an adventure...whether we were making a fort, pretending the couches were "boats", or packing a lunch and going for a hike.

And then they start going to school and the most dreaded thing happens...a schedule. And you begin to live and breathe by the clock. But pretty soon you get used to it and then once the last kid turns 5 off they go to all day kindergarten POOF, you get your life back. You regain your home & your day...and as long as your home by 4 you're good.

Then, just when you're getting used to it...the oldest one moves out, & the next one starts community college and POOF, all of a sudden you've got a kid home off and on again w/you during the day. They have crazy schedules that I can never seem to completely get straight..and then as soon as I do the schedule changes. So while this is emotionally exhausting...there is also FUN in this stage too. I love having this time w/them even if it is another adjustment.

We just got done registering Jess for classes and while I'm preparing for yet another adjustment I'm also looking ahead and trying to prepare for the next really big change of having Caleb possibly moving to Bloomington for an internship this summer. I don't know if I'm ready to not see/talk to one of my kids on a daily basis. All of a sudden it's hitting me how brief this time is. It's going SO fast!! I feel like I'm constantly having to relearn over and over again how quickly life changes & trying to appreciate the blessings of each season. And all the while fighting the temptation to hold on too tightly to each season knowing that if I do...I'm probably missing something precious from the next season.

I find myself needing to rely more and more on my Father, needing His grace & wisdom as I'm adjusting and re-adjusting but yet knowing that no matter how many changes are happening around me, He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, & tomorrow and for that I am SO thankful!

This applies to a lot of different scenarios, like for instance still fitting into your high school jeans, texting & driving, and in some cases, I think it also applies to over-editing. It seems to be an epidemic!

In the past 10 years photography has changed drastically, and for the most part good things have come from those changes but when it comes to editing, I’m starting to ask the question “just because you can…does that mean you should?” As I see more and more work leaning toward the subjects almost looking “computer generated” I feel like we are beginning to cross the line and lose the “truth” of who our subjects are.

I’m not talking about touching up a few blemishes or taming down a few wild hairs or covering up the scratch on your toddler‘s nose….I’m talking smoothing skin down to a point where it’s almost cartoon looking, adding so much sparkle to the eyes that they no longer even look human, losing the “realness” of the person. Where do we stop? Where is the line?

This is a question I was just asking myself as I was trying out a new editing program on one of my daughter’s senior pictures. After processing the picture thru the program…I didn’t even feel like I was looking at my own kid anymore, what was left of her was just a computer generated image…..a flawless beautiful image. But here’s the thing, it wasn’t even “her” anymore. The point of photography is art, but it is also a way of capturing the images of the people who matter to us, to help us remember them as they truly were….and I think we might be losing something precious when we airbrush them to the point of not even looking “real“ anymore.

With that said, I will of course continue to tame those wild hairs & touch up that blemish, but when it comes to the sparkle in your eyes, I want that to be real & true….and I think it’s this “truth” that makes your pictures beautiful!

I know it's been 2 months since my last post, and it's not that I'm not busy doing stuff/sessions everyday...it's that I'm doing TOO MANY things to blog about.

However, this past week deserves a Blog Post.

Rewind back a year or so from today, I was driving down 116 and happened to look out the window and saw an old cool looking brick building in the middle of Hanna City. My first thought was "that would make such a cool studio". Of course that was just in passing and I didn't think too much more about it until I was with my husband a few weeks later and we drove by again and I brought it up to him. It had this row of windows at the top of it that would let lots of light in and looked like it had super tall ceilings. The other thing we noticed at this time is that it looked vacant, however there was no "for sale/rent" sign in the window so there was no way of knowing what was going on w/it.

A few days later I decided to go into the store next door specifically to ask if they knew anything about the building. The lady behind the counter says "yes, it's my daughter's and she's a photographer and they plan to fix it up to use for her busines." End of story.....right???

Fast forward to last week...
My husband is driving thru town and notices there is a "for sale" sign in the window! He calls me and I call the #, we set up a time to see it at the end of the week. And we both start praying...

My prayers went something like this....."Father, I don't really want to start another project...I am busy, I am tired from the last one, my family is tired, my husband is working 10 hr days...I don't know the future....but I know YOU do, I know my company is Yours, our money is Yours, so whatever Your will is for us, I ask that you protect us from making a foolish decision."

I have never really had a lot of debt or overhead w/my company. All of my equipment I was able to save up and pay cash for so this was a big step for me and I went to my Compass for direction....my Bible. I'm reading thru the Old Testament and on Friday morning I was at the end of Proverbs...just happened to work out that way right??? So Proverbs 31 talks about a woman, who works hard, who invests wisely, a woman who basically "takes care of business". So going to see the building that evening...even though it will need work, even though I'm tired & busy, I had a peace that it's OK for us to go thru w/this project.

Saturday we put in an offer, it was accepted less than an hour later, and we closed this morning.
So here we go again w/being overwhelmed & under staffed:) There's a verse that says His strength is made perfect in our weakness....so I'll be looking to His perfect strength to get us thru these next couple of months!

The building has an interesting history...it was built in 1900 as the first bank in Hanna City. There is even the original vault. This vault is pretty much staying where it is (22 inch thick walls) so I'm thinking "dressing room"?

right now we're just going over ideas and checking stuff out, no real projected move in date but hopefully sometime in the beginning of 2013 we'll be moved in....hopefully:)
Can't believe my baby girl is a SENIOR! Anyway, we headed toward the studio first to load up a couple of cool props to take w/us. Before we even made it to the studio I had to stop and take a few by the old stone school that I drive by everytime I'm heading to my studio and always think to myself "I'd love to take pics there". The morning sun was just peeking over the trees and made the shot so pretty!

Then while at the studio we saw these beautiful purple morning glories in full bloom by the wrought iron gate....

Then off to Canton, where we drove around looking for some cool old buildings. We were looking specifically for some graffitti, however they must keep a pretty close eye on their teens & spray paint cause we were not successful. We did find a beautiful old stone church that I absolutely LOVED and a really cool old brck wall...love, love, love!

We ended the session w/lunch at one of the local diners and grocery shopping (cause I can do that as long as the senior is my daughter right?).
We had a blast and I must say this session had a whole different feel to it then when I did my older boy's senior sessions....let's just say it was more like pulling teeth:)

we're in the home stretch but it's been a long road. as soon as the interior is done (hopefully w/in a month or so) I'll upload before and after pics of the interiorrachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-21845563647480037932012-06-13T22:48:00.000-05:002012-06-13T22:48:03.817-05:00Thinking outside of the box/caseI've had this dilema for the past couple of years. As my equipment collection grows, so does my need for a good way to carry it all. I started w/a simple canon carrying bag, then quickly outgrew that and went to a hard case w/padding and immediately realized it just didn't have all the compartments I needed when it came to card/battery/lense/flash storage. So then I bought a camera backpack which had all the little pockets and padding and that worked for a few years except for weddings when every good photographer knows to bring just about EVERYTHING they own....and that's NOT going to fit in the backpack so I end up carrying the backpack and also another smaller bag. I didn't really like having to remember which bag had what and when shooting a wedding you just don't have time to dig through 2 different bags for some fresh batteries. It was a problem............until today.
TA DA!

I was reading the sunday paper and of course looking thru my favorite add, yeah the Menards add, when I saw the solution to my problem. It's called a Massive Mouth Bag! Now technically this is a tool bag and it is black and yellow (the only color it came in) but look at how nice everything fits in it! I now have spots for each flash, battery chargers, batteries, and cameras/lenses all in ONE bag. The draw back...it's heavy, but I'm thinking the positives out weigh (no pun intended) the negatives:)rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-59951858888820922262012-05-03T10:52:00.000-05:002012-05-03T10:52:55.536-05:00i missed it again!My mare was due to have a baby so I've been watching her pretty closely. Last night I stood out in the pasture thinking, maybe tomorrow morning (she's had her last 3 in the morning).
I woke up at 5 and grabbed a flashlight, walked out to the pasture and there he is, already dry. Apparently my mare is trying to tell me that she really doesn't need any help when it comes to having her babies.

On another note we've been working non stop remodeling a rental house so that's why my blog is being neglected...
As long as I keep up w/clients & somewhat keep up on housework in between working on the rental I figure it's ok to let the blog slip. Besides...my business is on facebook now so maybe that makes up for it.rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-23913303950048932702012-03-23T09:51:00.005-05:002012-03-23T11:02:27.308-05:00Am I the only one???Sometimes I think I might be the only one who gets excited over wet spider webs but I just can't help it.

They're just cool! So when I was walking this misty morning that's the first thing I noticed...a whole bunch of spider webs coated in tiny little droplets of water. So of course I had to put my macro lens on and try out my new 7D camera. This is what I got..
<img style="display:block; People ask me all the time if they stress me out but I always answer "no, I love them". I don't get stressed about them, excited yes, stressed, hardly ever.

Winter weddings however, add a whole new angle. Especially when the bride is sick and can't spend much time outside. All of a sudden you've got a truck load of lights & extension cords to add to the already full truck load of stuff to take to the wedding.

My normal spring, summer, fall wedding pile consists of an old piano bench (light weight and perfect for 2), 4 foldable stools of varying heights, 2 small iron stools (really they are decorative plant holders), a tri-pod, a remote, 3 flashes, 2-3 cameras, several different lenses (wide angle, zoom, etc), a million rechargeable batteries for both the cameras & flashes, a towel, baby wipes, water bottles, an unbrella (you never know), a sun/reflective shade, a sheet of clear plastic, bobby pins, safety pins, a light sphere, & a bunch of cf cards. So you can see why adding 2 big studio lights and extension cords can be a big deal...& I'm very glad that I have an expedition that can fit it all in!

So Saturday off we went in my crammed full truck to Goodfield to shoot Megan & Fred's wedding photos. Poor Megan was on antibiotics and just that morning started feeling better. We started at the Fellowship Hall by unloading everything and getting it all set up and plugged in. Kinga and I always show up about 30 minutes early to do some test shots to make sure everything is ready before it's time to start running through the photo list. Just in case there's a problem that gives us the time to get it worked out...just in case. And sure enough there was a problem. My never failing awesome studio lights that I LOVE would not fire. We tried everything. I even googled it & phoned a friend. I was thinking maybe it was a communication problem between my camera's mounted flash and the lights but after messing around w/them and unplugging and replugging and turning everything off then back on they finally started to work about 5 minutes before we were starting. Okay, I'll admit it, at this point I was getting a teeny bit stressed. Turns out they were just so cold they needed a little warm up time:) I'm always so glad for that extra 30 minutes because there's usually something that will not go according to plan and that time is when you either figure it out or go to plan "B" which would have been using my external flashes as slaves to my camera mounted one. Yes, you always need a plan "B".

Anyway we got the shots we needed and then loaded up the lights and stools & headed off to Eureka courthouse which is closed on Saturdays but if you know the right people and are from this tiny friendly town they may just open it up for you:)

To get this cool shot of the wedding party looking over the balcony...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbCufwUozwuzjn546YP4ag5vtTZFpE3IkmUo7P0MqgZ7qMPCPcIFPhHyFPHNetoU4ATqoto0X29PVfSa_QC2pK2Cx-dUb0Mq3iMNK1-8YDzLBCmw0bkriaXlGVBRPKZDTaxRm-H-L-ZcM/s400/IMG_7931.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699386369682051778" />

It takes a wide angle lens and being willing to mop the courthouse floor w/my sweater:)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh195drOzq5tX-wDKlM3PheoVJMKeHkL9G1W18bMnwAzwWIWCcA_xV_WRKM1W_uUwiSoNUlRWp4p-7WspYlenaqSAhcBsRYhPoOfl3xpZAvOFoxr8PeGHIV6EDvC9SDu-Oa6AxaviKrzLM/s400/IMG_0148.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699386378209241442" />

We got some AMAZING shots there! Just kidding, I'm not really even stressed.

The first of our 3 parties start tomorrow at the Old School Center...where my studio is, which is pretty convenient since I've got 3 sessions scheduled there starting @ 3:30 tomorrow:)

My goal is to be done by 6 so I can enjoy the Meister party. We spent Thankgiving tearing a roof off of our rental house so I did not get to enjoy that day and play vball w/the Meisters so I'm excited to go!

Gotta make a dessert and bring a salad topping and maybe some crackers and cheese but no real cooking/baking. A certain really smart person suggested we just order pizza & have a salad bar instead of us all trying to cook stuff and get it there so it should be a piece of cake.........ok the smart person may have been me:)

Then Saturday is our Christmas, we'll get up and open gifts then I'll make a big breakfast and spend the day relaxing. That night Grandma Meister and 2 of my sisters will come over for supper and maybe play some games.

On Sunday it's stockings then off to church then over to the Sauder's for their Christmas.

This morning there was a frost covering the fields so after walking I grabbed my macro lens and shot a few pics.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfqLGtl5fT6KGjn0tbh5uvKq4ox0n6McuR5nzV6-FvXypXNzMXiyhn8wLfM1TwpvdUAtj_QCyS4k7k2CVy6ra3RbRK22NJG3To2BUU75taGWnhqa0x4jE62D79Uj0lTkmyZl6vg2_NHk0/s400/IMG_9984w+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5689156543037733666" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsTY-C2_6ZLDp8GOrfPLevQgVPzMNhYCPmY1gf_B9U-sob1SHlcaY8fSrZ444_n2rNpi19M75FNxYHF43-a5s1qzi3Z1oLFlqqkz2mqvG1HCKzBafwwiNC5BuRv8SSawFlMcfze-BidEM/s400/IMG_9994cw+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5689156532029190546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 233px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOnqB8JoMvDInm4yVDO0ohIw56pR8S2tEC_4iHJqHWoyM781HfBZOfjZOeh9K-IGf9rvwWYeP3vz-bpxB6B3KP-Oq8fPcnc-MhyphenhyphenEcQSba3ai48SuTEk-iLT_kpYI4CtBrNCf96YVzTYyY/s400/IMG_9979w+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5689156523787949394" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipGhsmlq9m5lPncNajLWYdOOPgYiWCHmYmTPAPyc1i-2gnbuFjDdZzGLMsuCUkUu29u_psroDPEw_e8_FX3xJJJRU04XUYtH9JYmXs1NkRHmpnbRgUGNr3851wK0eA6mlFJJVosuNNfD8/s400/IMG_9970c+w+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5689156514670220082" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZcuDUrIoGBBlspkXyBNAwRgZxcX4MJqw649aNjMxOCB6UhwlVG3y-WhlReJnPvYOwmYe96EBUHHRBJgh1fpnpXtahSKVrE43u4pJlH-R9s3mvmSgEy6x61AoSLWUAgrV1UfewD6I2TE/s400/IMG_9952w+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5689156512423352066" />

God's decorations put mine to shame!rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-89052023712264900752011-12-14T10:31:00.003-06:002011-12-14T10:50:24.301-06:00Christmas checklistSessions done..........check.
Orders placed..........check.
files backed up........check.
shopping done..........check. They are currently piled in a corner in my office w/a blanket over them. (if any of my kids still believed in Santa they should be getting suspicious by now:)
Over all I'm feeling pretty organized, for the most part.

I ended up running out of cards so if you didn't get one I'm very sorry, just no time to order more. After that I have my big volley ball tournament that same night, we are currently in first place......I know we're not supposed to wish any of our days away but I think I may be relieved when this weekend is over!rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-45205080958921408562011-10-12T20:38:00.007-05:002011-10-12T21:38:50.305-05:00Fall SessionsFall is just plain BUSY! For photographers...really busy. For moms/photographers..CRAZY BUSY. Between senior sessions, and family pics, and a couple of weddings, I'm just trying my best to stay on top of it all. Also throw in the fact that 2 of my kids have birthdays in October, & I'll be lucky to survive the month! So if I forget to call you back...or am late getting your pics uploaded...or mess up an order, at least you know why...I've probably lost my mind and am desperately looking for it...and as soon as I find it, I'll get back to you:))

Anyway, here are my last 2 weeks....
<img style="display:block; Rescheduled yesterday's session for next Monday, rescheduled today's session for next Tuesday, tomorrow's session has been moved to next Thursday which means next week IT BETTER NOT RAIN. I can double up on sessions next week, but there is NO way I can manage tripling (is that even a word?) up sessions the week after that.

So for the rest of this week (especially Friday when I do the students from Lighthouse Academy) and all of next...pray that it only rains at night, after dark, when outdoor sessions are NOT scheduled!

Here's some shots from the weekend sessions....
<img style="display:block; Below where our house sits is a beautiful meadow that is usally full of wildflowers and grasses. Last year I even put in a few ornamental grasses and had plans to build a split rail fence to use for family sessions. Wouldn't you know it, that's where he decided to put this paintball field. He started w/a few pallets that his brother brought home and then between him and his cousins.....well, this is what our meadow currently looks like...

<img style="display:block; I must say that I was a little worried about a session involving a 4 year old AND a pony. I mean, lots of times it's a challenge to just get a 4 year old to cooperate at all much less bringing a pony along. But check out these pics...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTnK5E3_Q0bpbNlZY3VmGvZWkdvFDoR0PTuDpzfV-s3kafvJH3lJdizQiwv4u1LHVguXDVyV0ERyHDhMtyhfLq6porD2ukSUHkibKQD9L3UDualcsypVXltyFH4916HDLczARy7gOIkK4/s400/IMG_2850w+copy+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5652672118362628578" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 231px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiStKxMU6DLc1myujRlmN8POYNpqW23OXEXAQ5NJViPw3vuRTBSx9Xa7dNd1RQpxScGpzOZc1z9NzdcSC8D7FMP8DWKX0843P-2HGZ4bC8ynXtUOEAYYnBlv3AVf92L60uFDiu27czDF8M/s400/IMG_2763ccw+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5652672099565966530" />

I met up w/Keli in downtown Peoria for her senior session. This is a huge farm in Cuba, IL that's being completely reworked. From what I understand, the plan is to somehow connect a few of the lakes and make a great big lake. I think these are the "before" pics and at a later date we'll do some "after". These people are pretty serious about hunting and fishing.

I've been in little planes plenty of times but never with the window open and $8,000 worth of equipment hanging around my neck....that was "interesting".

I will say that I was thankful for dramamine & good strong camera straps, as it was a little bumpy up there! The pics turned out awesome in spite of the bumps thanks to a super fast shutter speed.rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376096430301163387.post-84674013445499853992011-08-22T12:06:00.008-05:002011-08-22T13:10:17.243-05:00Monday is not the only day of the week!Every Monday I'm hit w/an overwhelming list of things that need to be done both professionally and personally. Usually it's a bunch of uploading, sorting, & editing from the weekend sessions. The weekends are also when a lot of orders get put in because that's when clients find time to get that done so there are lots of orders to process, package and mail out. Besides the normal Monday work that comes w/having 5 kids & their friends in and out all weekend...like mountains of laundry and no food in the house.

So on Monday morning I hit the ground running and tend to get a little overwhelmed and sometimes I forget that it's okay if I don't get the whole list done...there's always Tuesday, and even Wednesday if things get too crazy.

The problem is that I'm just not good at procrastinating...which would normally be considered a good thing but I think I might have a tendency to take it to the extreme and that probably drives my husband and kids a little crazy:) Also, the times when I am forced to put a few things off because of kids schedules or other commitments, those things usually come back to haunt me, big time. For instance I've got 2 big jobs that need some major organizing to be completed and I knew I was going to need a few days of uninterrupted computer time so I've been trying to put it off till the kids get into school full time. So this past Tuesday night I spent a bunch of time getting ready for the next day...the most wonderful day of the year (for parents) putting names on their stuff and packing up their bookbags w/all their new supplies, lacing up the new tennis shoes and BAM...phone call...teacher's strike...ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!! So here we are the following Monday w/the normal huge list and those 2 big jobs still not done and still no school....and THAT'S why putting things off doesn't work for me!

So anyway, it's Monday & I don't think "blogging" was even on my list but I'm feeling kind of guilty about not finding the time to catch up so I'll try to post a few pics from the last few sessions....besides, if I don't get it all done there is still TUESDAY!

We decided that since they're getting married at Grace in Peoria we could just run down the road to my sister's house and use their lake & dock for some fun shots. We didn't realize that part of the dock had some supports that were broken. Thankfully they held while we got the shots, but in my mind I kept picturing 1/2 the wedding party dripping wet for the ceremony...actually because it was a million degrees out...they were pretty close to that anyway. You can't tell it in these pics though. They were a fun group and as long as I kept them hydrated & gave them baby wipes they were up for anything:)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 355px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi8jJSsVNOLuJ2kX1ooNd4ducKYyavvShB-lq7aTj4kIky-B70ENNU90fWYxjCBkfYu6iDtyMU2ivPaFBNyrhLXwtCphjYlCaguwXq4xA_IiVDMNcmhfllfHj59BGyty7LY5reZ0nHW_8/s400/IMG_8985.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633658089846149810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 365px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieH_uu7mE0TAPeTEHYLBjxXZKbv5aPdqoSr-Hgz7dxfH0i6dWR-Igd7x1kQgBK8djlju994YJsY45dnlfRiklNp0NJ33czIIruj22RcJY17ASJzxv-VeSdpLGULFF-bpei-t04i01OZdY/s400/IMG_8960.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633658081079051010" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 154px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS7kE71xvhqw_mbuz40o5XV_7yOKYf-t9HwV8geZMDUZzaKh-4JPVm0VOBesfCIpN9ugtk0qKX98dBS6TH61nyv8rpl4lcHl-vPvyyvZuoobnDYKpxyccUzJn04NynDUWbUyi7MO3-Pi8/s400/IMG_8804.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633658077059112466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 216px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO_8DOSJyz7ivSZ7ojE1VCfQGctQvYxcLHIMSosi3W11ZegjeI85n9s5cyFQRE0ZMOVxKcmbc3z_oewciMSWGBHFI5Mz1uaLH5WEzM_MdShY6X0SFMSPEHCABjRq-wNGhcW9z9xwy2oHk/s400/IMG_8847.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633658077034757906" />
It was a beautiful wedding but I don't think I've ever been so HOT in my life! So I go to text and call Caleb...no reponse (b/c when you're 18 you don't get up before 11:30 unless you have to be at work) & I also realize that someone has unplugged my phone charger to plug in their mp3 player...cause that's more important. Running out of time, don't want to be late so run back in the house, mapquest the 3 houses, grab the papers from the printer and run for the car. Jump in, start it and notice that I'm out of gas (cause teenagers like to drive...ALOT). Thinking maybe I can still pick up the GPS out of Caleb's car when I get to the gas station (if he's working today, which I still don't know b/c he hasn't answered my text) and now realizing that no matter what, I'm going to be late for my first session...& I hate being late.

Get to the gas station...no caleb, no caleb's car, no GPS. As I'm getting gas, I finally get a text from Caleb, he's home....& his car is at my sister's...cause that's a good place to keep it......where mom would never think to look.

Mapquest gets me to my first house about 8 minutes late...I hate being late. Done w/that one and in the car heading to the second one I realize that mapquest has decided to take me the LONG way around to Princeville and tell me that I've arrived at my destination when I was at least 6 miles from it....I'm lost, and my phone battery is reading 20% but the important thing to remember here is that somebody has a fully charged mp3 player today. Call the home owner to apologize that I'm running late...20 minutes late...I hate being late.

Get done w/that house and am supposed to be heading to Brimfield....mapquest says take a left on 150...only when I come to a main road that looks like it possibly could be 150 there are no road signs....so I take a left and end up in Dunlap....I am obviously directionally challenged and SOOOO NEED MY GPS! So I use the last of my phone battery to call the 3rd home owner and ask for directions...and apologize for being late....18 minutes late....and I hate being late!

When I finally get home that night, and start to place orders, answer emails and get ready to listen to our church sermon online I realize that my computer speakers are gone, so off I go to find them (upstairs in Logan's room)....& just then my older boy's friends start trooping in w/huge amplifiers for band practice....even if I had my speakers I couldn't have heard anything anyway w/the floor shaking and all.

After it finally quiets down and the house smells of pizza...they load up their stuff to go spend the night somewhere else...which is probably not smart because 2 out of 3 have to work in the morning...but it's quiet here so even though I don't like it, I did enjoy the peace.

Today I'm heading to Lake Thunderbird for a senior session....I have my phone charging...and I HAVE MY GPS....hopefully things will be better.

The only thing I have to say about yesterday is "aren't they cute at this age?"rachelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14293041856862824263noreply@blogger.com1
