Greece day 4 "Crete"

We did it! The alarm worked and we got up at 6:00 am and made it to the bus on time to get to the Samaria Gorge. The bus ride alone was so cool. The sun was coming up over the mountains as we were driving thru them. I had to snap pics through the window because it was so neat. The one of the sun breaking thru the clouds reminded me of the promise that Jesus left us with. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Can't wait!!! The view was absolutely breathtaking. I don't know how else to describe it. The temperature was cool when we started hiking at the top but as you decend into the gorge it gets warmer right away. The weather was perfect again, as it has been everyday. About 80 degrees and sunny. It's about a 10 mile hike but most of it's down hill. The only thing that is a little hard is the rocks are very slippery where they've been worn down so you kind of have to be on guard as you go and it was starting to bother my knees a little. The colors in the rocks, the trees growing in the most unlikely places, the springs that you can drink right out of, amazing, all of it. We went thru the Samaria settlement in the middle of the gorge and then when we reached the bottom we swam in the beautiful blue Lyban Sea. The beach there is a black sand/pebble beach so that was neat too. We had to take a boat then to the nearest town w/bus service. We got back about 8:30 at night to the bus station after a harrowing drive thru the mountains. You can't believe the hairpin turns they take these busses on. Crazy! Anyway, it's late and we are both exhausted so I'm going to upload some pics that I know won't even come close to doing this trip justice and go to bed.
