Greece Day 6 "Santorini"

So we had to be up waaaay early this morning and I think we were both afraid we wouldn't hear the alarm so we didn't sleep very well. We ended up waking up around 4:00 am (before the alarm even went off) and headed to the bus stop around 4:45.

It's about a 9-10 block walk w/all of our luggage so that was exciting. We got to the bus stop in plenty of time and got on the bus heading to the port that's about 2 hours and 45 minutes away....yawn. We had to go thru the mountains again and the driver zipped around those curves so fast it felt like the tires were leaving the road. All of a sudden the bus pulls into a station and everyone starts getting out. We had no idea what was going on but apparently we had to switch busses. So we jumped off the bus and went around to the luggage compartment and transferred all of our luggage to the new bus. Then back on the road at break neck speeds. We got to the last station and got out, by now I'm feeling pretty awful, and we still have to figure out where our boat is. We crossed a busy street and after much confusion and luggage dragging we were able to find our boat. We got on w/about 10 minutes to spare, whew!

So it was thrilling for me to get out of the swerving bus and get on a swaying boat....much better! David was able to find some motion sickness pills and I took one and it pretty much knocked me out for most of the ferry ride. We got to Santorini about 12:45 and we were happy to see the welcoming sight of a little greek man holding up a sign saying RACHELN DAVID. He drove us to our rental place in Perissa and we picked up our rental car and drove to our apt.

This apt is much bigger than the studio we had in Hania. It has a living room, eat in kitchen, a deck, and a loft bedroom w/a balcony that's locked. We have emailed asking where the key is for that. We are a couple of blocks from a nice beach w/the huge rock mountain coming right down into the water. We went grocery shopping to get stuff for our breakfasts & lunches and then tried on 6 different pay phones to call the kids at 3:00 pm (7:00 am at home). Our phone card numbers are not working here so I will need to email the company and figure out why. Today is David's 19th Birthday and we really wanted to call and wish him a happy birthday and we've heard that Luke really wants to talk to us too. Bummer. We will email them and hopefully have this all fixed tomorrow by 3:00 so we can try again. We had supper down by the beach and walked around a little and then came home. I also can't get my laptop hooked up to internet here yet so no pictures tonight:(. Tomorrow our plan is to head to Oia and check out the west side of the island. I really hope to be able to post some pics by tomorrow.
